CYMETRIS Receives State Funding Under Bavaria’s BayTOU Program

The Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs is funding CYMETRIS under the BayTOU technology startup program, following a structured technical and economic review that confirmed the platform’s innovation and its relevance for regulated product development environments.

BayTOU (Bayerisches Förderprogramm Technologieorientierte Unternehmensgründungen) supports technology-oriented ventures whose development demonstrably goes beyond the current state of the art. Proposals undergo evaluation by the project management organization Bayern Innovativ, with independent technical experts involved in the assessment. A positive funding decision under this program is a substantive confirmation of technical novelty and commercial viability, not an administrative grant.

The funded development centers on AI-assisted attack path modeling to optimize standards-compliant cybersecurity risk assessments in safety-critical systems. This targets one of the most technically demanding aspects of TARA work: structuring and evaluating complex attack graphs across system architectures in a way that is both methodologically rigorous and traceable against regulatory requirements such as ISO/SAE 21434, UN R155, and the EU Cyber Resilience Act. The BayTOU assessment recognized this as a technically novel undertaking with clear market relevance across regulated industries, and the independent technical review confirmed the approach as going beyond what current tooling in this space provides.

The funding supports the continued build-out of this capability within the CYMETRIS platform, including its expanding application into adjacent sectors such as agricultural machinery and two-wheeled vehicles, where structured cyber risk assessment is increasingly required but tooling has remained fragmented.

“Receiving BayTOU funding is not a formality. The program requires independent technical review and confirms that what we are building genuinely goes beyond what exists today. For us, that matters because it reflects exactly what we experience with our customers: CYMETRIS is solving a real problem that the market has not had a proper answer to. The platform is in active use, it is expanding into new domains, and it is proving out in practice. That trajectory, now backed by state recognition of its technical substance, puts us in a strong position for the next phase of growth.”
— Falk Mayer, Co-Founder and Managing Director, CYMETRIS

The BayTOU program is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Landesentwicklung und Energie and administered by Bayern Innovativ. Funding is awarded exclusively to ventures demonstrating technical innovation with clear market potential, with a mandate to develop new products or technical services to at minimum prototype maturity.
